Causes brown, water-soaked spots or decay on leaves or petals. Once diseased tissue encircles the stem, the shoot will wilt. Botrytis is easily diagnosed by the fluffy gray, tan or brown mold produced on blighted plant parts under moist conditions. It rapidly blights flowers. Infected petals that fall onto foliage or stems can cause additional blighting and dieback.
Adopt good cultural practices, and proper sanitation and environmental controls. Promptly remove diseased leaves and flowers. Prune diseased branches 4-6" below the infection leaving a clean cut. Collect and destroy diseased plant residue. Disinfest prunidpt gooddpt good cultural practices, and proper sanitation and environmental controls. Promptly remove diseased leaves and flowers. Prune diseased branches 4-6" below the infection leaving a clean cut. Collect and destroy diseased plant residue. Disinfest pruning tools between cuts by dipping them for at least 30 seconds in a 10% bleach solution or alcohol (spray disinfectants that contain at least 70% alcohol can also be used). Don't compost or dispose of plant debris near growing areas. Avoid overhead watering, especially during bloom time. Don't hold well-rooted cuttings in propagation areas. Keep relative humidity below 85%. Provide good air circulation and reduce crowding. Avoid shipping or storing plants in plastic or other moisture-impermeable materials.
Gray mold fungicides are only preventative and must be applied prior to infection.
